just a quickie

i know the manual says to use a 10w oil, but im abroad and cant find any good 10w oil, so im thinking of putting 20w50 castrol in it, any ideas if this will affect the engine at all, as i dont want to cause any problems later on

If its not cold it shouldn't really be a big deal I wouldn't think.

20w50 is a little heavy, normally used for diesel engines, but it can be run in your disco, but only if you are in a hot climate.... I wouldn't run it unless you had to.... if it is just to top off the level already in the engine, then no big deal.

If you can get a lower viscosity oil so much the better, perhaps 10W-. Being a lighter oil, it will get up into the vital parts of your engine quicker, and, its at start up that engine wear occurs most.

Use Castrol Synthetic blend 20w-50. It will be light enough to get into all the corners of your engine. I hope you can get it in Egypt. If not, I am sure one of us here could ship it to you but by then it may not be worth the extra cost. But then again, it is still cheaper than having to replace the engine.

You might be able to find it on the net too.
