Oil pick up is clogged.... drop the oil pan and clean it out... either that or you are real low on oil.

Thank you Joey for responding! I am a little handy myself. I just changed the oil using the manufacture filter and 10w40 and it still making that noise. I guess it's pretty serious if oil p/u is clogged. Is it a job any mechanic/handy man can do? I would hit to take it to the dealer for them to charge me an arm and a leg for something simple. Please let me know, as already set up an appt. with the dealer on Thursday morning.

I plan to do my own... just make sure you have either a new gasket or some permitex (i.e liquid gasket) hope I have the name correct.

Just drain the oil, drop the oil pan and you will see the screen that is clogged.

Does the engine knock at any RPM range or is most of the knock at idle? The reason I ask is I had a '96 Disco that had a very noticable knock at idle but would almost disappear when you hit the throttle. It turned out to be a burned valve in the driver side cylinder head. I had two mechanics tell me it was a bearing in my bottom end. It cost me about $500 to fix.

Thanks! The problem seems to go away after I flush the engine.
