I took the LR3 offroad last weekend-capped by one large water crossing with a muddy bottom and a 300 mile drive home...no issues
Yesterday was driving home from the office and the battery light came on-called the dealership and made an appointment for Monday morning.
Last night, drove to meet some friends about 8 blocks and a tranny fault-cant shift modes, ABS, suspension and on down the line started to chime and beep and the navi shut off. 3 hours later while driving home everything shut off except the AC-lights interior and exterior, blinkrers flashers -there was a faint blinking of the radio knobs and little to no acceleration; it was lurching along very slow. When I realized the AC was still blowing cold air I shut it off and found some acceleration!
Needless to say, in the complete darkenss I managed to limp the truck back home. Im not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination...but I thinks the toy is broken, lol.
Sound like an alternator or battery issue? Anyone experienced the same?

LR3 shuts down 'non essential' items when power is low - sounds like a power issue

Could be battery, alternator - or possibly a bad ground connection.

You have a multimeter to check some voltages?

I epxerienced a similar gremlin, I would suggest taking your truck into the dealership for service with all the codes evident if possible. With me it was many, many rounds of trouble shooting and the even the Local LR rep trying to blame it on my oversized Cooper Zeon tires, one of the dealers stellar tech's was looking into the electrical system and found a wire splice somewhere around the passenger side a pillar which was very loosly connected. apparently this poor connection was sporatically preventing all the systems i.e.) HDC, terrain response, suspension, transmission, engine parking brake etc... from talking with each other and without communication the systems shut down. Unfortunately I don't have much more info regarding the exact location of this wire, but it has been a documented issue with LRNA, and thus far with the repaired splice it has been flawless. If you are ever found in that situation again a hard reset will clear the codes and allow the vehcile to get you out of your situation. Hard reset= disconnect the battery and connect the positive terminal wire with the negative terminal wire for 10 minutes, connect back together and 5 key cycles later all codes are cleared.
Not sure this helps you out, but net net... get the truck to a LR dealer with a GOOD service department.
Good luck, let us know what is found.

...scary that ONE bad wire/connection can cause a reaction like that. This rig is highly electrical and I worry about this kind of stuff!

Wont shift into nuetral now

Well, I called roadside assistance to come get the truck. They sent a flatbed, however the landy won't start now, or even shift out of park. I would not let the tow company simply yank it up onto the flatbed. So Land Rover is sending another recovery company out tomorrow morning that should be equipped to roll the landy up in park. Is there anything else I need to be aware of when they tow our trucks?

Well, the dealership advised me to check the manual for emergency procedures to shift the truck into nuetral. Then the dealership called me back 5 minutes later to let me know exactly what page the directions were on...pretty cool of them. I talked to my SA this afternoon and they are replacing the Alt and Battery...then he laughed and said he would have them clean the truck "very well" for me. So looks like the toy will be all fixed tomorrow and under warranty.

Pages 140-142 provide a diagram and steps to get the car out of park when it has no power. No tools needed-just fingers.
Great info to know for the future
