Wanted to give a heart felt thanks to all of those who have provided such valuable information to me over the past month.
With your help I am beginning to bring hope to the prospect of keeping my 96 Disco my primary mode of transportation..
A huge thanks to Joey .. I feel I would be remiss if I didn't single him out as one of the great 'go to guys' on the board...

Now without further a due I present my latest issue....

This morning after starting my Disco I felt it was running a little loud.. so much so I opened the hood to see if anything stuck out. Finding nothing I casually slipped the vehicle into reverse to start my day...
It was then I realized I had no 1.Radio, 2. power windows, 3. power sunroof, 4. A.C. fan, 5. wipers (it is finally raining in Richmond), 6. Cruise Control ... and maybe a host of other things I never got around to discover...
After arriving at my location I eased the Rover into park and heard a scream like I had a cat in my fan motor..
Again I opened the hood and nothing stuck out...

After spending a few hours slaving for the man I returned to the truck to head home... At this point everything sounded normal and everything was working.. (and has stayed that way over various stop and go errands today..)

Any ideas? Can I chalk this up to dumb luck or am I about to experience another big issue?

Thanks for any ideas or thoughts...

With all the issues you state above... I would be suspect of electrical issues... bad ground or Alternator on its way out... have it tested. Cat if the fan sound could be either the water pump, the Alternator again, or the tension pulley.

As far as it sounding loud... could be the above Alternator or Water pump.... could also be the fan clutch...

But the other issues sound like a ground issue.

The fat cat squeel? Had the same noise on mine every time I turned it off after running it for awhile average commute 60 mile + per day. Turned out to be tension idler and serp belt. Replaced sound of the perring kitty returned. Sweet sound of the mighty 4.0. The rest seems to be a electrical problem like joey said above. I would start by having your voltage checked on your battery and having your alternator checked. Simple First.
