I live in Buffalo, NY, where it gets cold. For the third time, my wife has gotten locked in our 2011 Range Rover when the cables froze and the locks on 3 of the 4 doors would not actuate. She had to climb over the center console and get out the passenger door--the only door that worked. I had the vehicle towed to my local dealer. Their diagnosis was that the cables had frozen, preventing the doors from opening. The bad news: there is no fix. Lubrication will not help, nor would replacing the cables. Why? They claim the cable/lock setup is designed to prevent theft. I love this vehicle, but am very disappointed that there appears to be a design defect. My wife now refuses to drive the Range Rover in cold weather and instead, relies on our other vehicle, an 11 year-old BMW X3 that still runs like a champ.
