Fuel hatch never locks in NAS LR4?

Hi there,
Im a happy owner of 13MY LR4 Lux for NAS market and I found that the fuel hatch never locks, is it ok for US or was it broken?
My friend have same problem with his 14MY LR (NAS market too). I ask because, my old Discovery 3 08MY has it and I think in EU market all cars has locking hatch.

Mine doesn't lock either. I suspect you can just inspect the mechanism and figure this out...

I think gas in Europe is so much more expensive that syphoning from a gas tank is more of an issue. Just my guess...
