I am at wits end about a constant blowing of a fuse.
The Engine Management fuse to be exact, on a 98 Discovery 2 anniversary edition.
I started tracing down wires but could not find any breaks or shorts (as of yet) but I am still looking.
Could the ECU unit it self cause the fuse to blow?
I did discover the sensor on the top of the fuel pump was rusted out and crumbling. I have replaced the fuel pump, not even sure if that may have been a partial cause of the fuse blowing.
Could the green and white wire from the fuse be connected, under the chassis to the fuel pump?
I bought my Rover in better time and put a lot of money in it for rebuilding the heads and new gaskets.
I replaced the water pump, fan clutch, fan, belts etc, and to have this fuse stop me is the most frustrating obstacle yet.
I am 57 and have work on my own vehicles since was 13.
The older I get, the dumber I get or something like that.

If this is for a Discovery, it should be in the Disco section... I will move it, let me know.

Off the top of my head, I don't recall which fuse you speak of, can you provide the fuse number and when the fuse blows... any work done just before the fuse starting blowing...

Da Fuse problem

Its fuse #3 which in the manual is referred to as the engine management fuse.

sounds like water either in the relay, passenger foot well, or in the ECU itself...

Thanks a neighbor who is a mechanic and I were playing with the ECU and the relay idea.
Water in the the passenger foot well is almost not possible since this LR has ****** carpets under two layers of mats and there is no indication of any water ever touching the mats or original carpet.
I would assume thew relays he spoke of are behind the panel on the drivers side foot well.
As for the ECU it is a used unit that was replaced by a land rover mechanic who rebuilt, or had my heads rebuilt over a year ago.
The ECU seems to be the most suspicious since I also had a check engine light staying on for a couple of weeks before the fuses started to blow and we could not find the reason for the check engine light.
Thank You very much, this gives me a bit of hope. My girl friend and I both love the LR (she named it LULU since it has been a real LULU) and we have no desire to give her up.
