I have a 06 LR3 and about 3 weeks ago teh GPS started giving bad directions. It would get you from A to B but the directions do not make sense sometimes. By that I mean it woudl take you off of an interstate just to put you back on an exit down the road. This did not happen before and is at the point where I do not trust its directions.

I have looked at the routing options and they are all clear. I have tried selecting Major Roads as a preferance but still no dice.

Thoughts??

Mine does that. Not all the time, but there are certain routes where it does exactly that...and I guess it happens pretty often now that I think about it. It is always a clear mistake that I disregard and once I pass the exit it recommended things are usually clear and it returns to the expected route.

No idea, why. My wife at first suspected that it had live traffic and was routing us around accordingly. :)

I don't recall if this started up out of the blue, or if it was accompanied with my latest map upgrade.

When did you do the upgrade ... what version ... is it a "real" disk?

FYI, the 2008 disc was notoriously defective (due to software issues), so if that's the version you have installed or upgraded to, you purchased the disc legally and are still under warranty you may be entitled to a "free" upgrade to the 2009 disc, see your dealer. TSB # LTB00202 dated 02/09/09. Defective discs are labeled Land Rover Part # 6H42-10E898-BB.

That is news to me. Thanks!

I'll have to research the 2009 or maybe go back to the prior disc. I have copied the 2008 disc so I could retain the 1791 override code and use all my NAV features while driving. I would rather go back than lose that functionality. I wish they offered a working 2008 instead of making me get the 2009. :)

You know, I think that by removing the updated loading.kwi firmware file when you and I hacked our 2008 disc to maintain the 1791 bypass code, we may have also inadvertently avoided loading the faulty software into the satnav module. By hacking the disc that way, basically all you get is new maps and POIs, the interface and "engine" that calculates the routes remain the same as the original, 2006 version. I run the same 2008 hacked disc and have noticed no changes in the accuracy of the system when calculating routes.

Is there a way to load PDF files here, or can you only upload pictures? I'd like to share the above TSB, as it contains some hilarious examples of incorrect routing you can get when using a defective 2008 disc.

We have an '08 HSE, from new. Live in NYC and get out of the way directions for a drive we make regularly.
Having seen this thread, I thought I'd check the nav disk and, as far as I can see, it doesn't have the LR part number quoted in the TSB on it; it has:
Denso 464210-5760 and LR YIW500210
Only dates were:
Denso copyright '06 and Navtech copyright '05 - I suspect neither are relevant to the content date, but how do I know if I even have an '08 disk?

Thanks, John
