Water. Passenger side. I have no idea....

This first showed up during the rain that caused the massive flooding up here in New Hampshire about 3 weeks ago. Been steady ever since. It occurs when the vehicle is parked though increases when it is in motion. Incline, flat or decline does not matter. While in motion, the wet area will procede all the way to the pillar between the front and rear seats. It dries after the rain rather quickly, I would guess between 6-8 hours. If I press on the wet spot, water will drip out. Over a long trip, 2-3 hours, it will drip out onto the floor of the passenger side.

I checked the sunroof, where the luggage rack meets the roof, and the corner of the water channel over the passenger side. I'm assuming the water channel is to blame but I cannot figure out how it's getting inside. I'm hoping this has happened to someone else here and they can provide a solution or perhaps somebody has heard of this and knows the remedy.

Thanks all!

either a clogged sunroof drain, or one of the four bolts that hold the glass in place is loose.

The bolts on both sunroofs are tight. I checked the manual for the location of the drains, but it looks like you need to take the sunroof out to gain access. Is this true? Any easy way to unclog them or am I looking at a solid day's worth of swearing? :) I would think if I could get an air compressor hooked up to one of the ends, I could blast everything out with a few hearty compressor blasts. Where does the other end of that drain come out?

Thanks all

Also check to make sure the glass is aligned correctly. No water should get by the seal if the glass is on the seal correctly.

I will also look to see about the drains.

Hi, I have just gotten word back on my 2001 Discovery. I have had a leak as well. I took the rover to a dealer to have them find out about the leak and fix it. They had to "remove the head liner and repair pass front drain tube to tub connector and patch two rust holes." (Cost: $345) The next hard rain brought water in again at the passenger front headliner.
i took it back to the dealer and explained that it was still leaking. After a day, they called me back and said they tried to repair the problem and it didn't work, so now they need to replace the rusted tubs for $2300. I have 78,700 miles with no salt exposure.
Shouldn't a failure like this, "a rust through", be covered under warranty?

Anyone else had a similar problem not covered under warranty?

im pretty sure that dealer is screwing you out of money...for one, you already paid them to fix the problem, they didnt fix it, why are they charging you again? and 2300? are you kidding me? you could get a brand new transmission for that, and they want it for some tubes? no way, go in there and dont let them walk all over you, they FAILED to fix what you PAID them to fix, so either they can refund your money or they can CONTINUE to repair what you paid them to in the first place, and certainly not at 2300 dollars...good luck on that

for a sun roof leak test, why not seal up the sun roof, say with tape or something and just hose it down, if the water enters you know its not sun roof related, if the leak doesnt start then you know it is? dont know how helpful that is though, hope you can get something fixed up on it soon

Yikes! Ok, that's scary. I'm gonna hope this is not my problem....and good luck with yours!!!

It was raining again yesterday so I opened the sunroof all the way to see if I could see any water pooling in either sunroof - no dice. I had assumed that if a drain was blocked I would see standing water. I started peeling back the liner inside the car by the pillar and could make out water coming in near what looks like where the window meets the chassis. Could be wrong. I have to replace the window anyhow as I have a gigantic crack running across it, and I'm just about the park the Rover over the weekend for the summer in favor of my VRT. I'm gonna cover it and deal with the damned thing this fall. :)

P.S.... not a good idea to hit the windshield with a pressure washer with all the windows up in direct sunlight after sitting for an hour. Windshields don't much care for that!
