Help!!! Disco Won't Start!

Here's what I've done thus far:

Removed the front bumper
Moved the washer bottle from original position to behind coolant bottle

I guess that's it.

Now the key won't even turn in the ignition.

Thoughts -

Did I not cap something? Not sure if I have to do this.

Is something not grounded? Checked, nothing clearly visible.

What have I done wrong!!!! Help!

When I called it appeared that the issues fixed itself.

It seemed to be the normal LR issue... turn key nothing happens. Wait a second or so, wiggle steering wheel, wiggle shifter... restart.


Normally caused by the lock features.

A little late in tell but....

CRISIS AVERTED!

I yelled, I screamed, I cursed - then I tried to turn the key as hard as possible and it started, WOOOHOOO!!!!

I've noticed that sometimes when the key wont turn in the ignition it is an central alarm issue (spider box wires losing their connection???). If you hit the alarm setting botton on your keychain wait a beat and then disable the alarm, the key will turn and the engine starts.

Does that sound disco-logical to you?

I've also had the turn the key and nothing happens issue. Jiggle and wiggle usualy does the trick.

Oh yes, this is quite typical. What I do when it happens is Step 1--look at the wheel and RPM gauge with an insanely confused look Step 2--get angry face and try to turn key two more times Step 3--lock the doors with the key fob Step 4--Unlock the doors with the key fob, AND open and close the driver door Step 5--start it up! horray for british electrical!

I haven't had to go as far and lock/unlock doors, normally the issue is the ignition itself. Remember Ignition has soft metal tumblers, the key is hard steel. What happens is the key wears out the ignition not the other way around.

Add to that the fact that it still has the joys of the famous Lucas electrics in there, so now every switch and relay in the vehicle is connected to unrelated items, it makes for fun.

This is another reason why some things works for some Rovers and other things work for others. Makes for a true personality in the vehicle.
