You need either a full diagnostic system, or a reset tool. The reset tool isn't that expensive, if you plan on doing your own oil changes for a few years it will pay for itself.

Dave, interesting devices on that site. Do you use them yourself? Any ballpark idea of the cost of the SII reset tool? I like the fact that they don't appear to be locked onto a single VIN, unlike many of the aftermarket alternatives out there.
I use the SIR reset tool on a daily basis, works very well, takes about 10 seconds to do its job.
The others not really. I have used the brake mounting one, but service mode is not the most useful thing in the world, and aside from a bad switch circuit, it doesn't help with a problem with the module much. I do not like the PDI one, as to do it correctly you need to hook up the computer anyway, and the transport mode one is only useful before PDI, and even then if trucks are stored away from the dealership. I do not have experience with the diagnostic one on there, and I use a different OBD passthrough.
The reset tool was about $200 last time I ordered one. And they're not locked to a VIN, it is designed to be used in a shop, where that would not be viable.
