Coy Glasscock had a similar problem a couple of years ago. It turned out to be the O-rings on the manifold that comes off the compressor were leaking. Dealer wanted a fortune to fix, but he went to scuba shop and picked up some o-rings for almost nothing and replaced them himself.

I just got my truck back from Dealer after waiting a day because their computer was "down".
They told me I need a new compressor, because it is "only working 80% of the time", and it will cost roughly $1200 (parts and labor). Of course they want me to pay $900 for a new compressor, when I can just find one myself online new for around $500.
A buddy just told me that in both of his LR3's he had his compressors "rebuilt" which costs a lot less and works as good. Has anyone else heard of this?

Yes, there is a rebuild kit, and it comes from Land Rover. The information and part number are posted here on this site. I have the link saved at home, but currently out of town. If you search, you can find it, or I will update this post in a few days when I get back home.

Thanks, I'll do some searching, and am going into the Dealer to ask about it later. My only concern is that rebuilding may not last as long as just buying a whole new one, not sure if thats true or not though. I'll post my findings.

I had my compressor go two weeks after buying the car and a week after buying the extended warranty.... At first they thought it was just the ride height sensor in the back right wheel, they replaced it, then figured out the back left was damaged also... All of this while I was visiting my parents in Philly for the weekend. Got the parts in, replaced them, put the truck back down, and it won't get out of off-road height. Started messing with the compressor and realized it was all corroded.

They sent me back on my way to Buffalo with a Jaguar XF for two weeks  (400 miles on the clock)

Somehow convinced the Ford ESP adjusters that it wasn't corroded, and managed to waive my deductible for the repair...

And to top it off, they delivered my car to me in Buffalo ~6 hours away, on a flatbed and took the Jag back.

props to Steve at the Great Brittains in Willow Grove, PA.

The LR3 has been a dream since.

Thanks for the links Jack. I just got back from the Dealer, they said that they no longer rebuild compressors because the parts aren't Land Rover.
I don't buy it, because my friend just had it done there.
Unfortunately where I live (Greenville, South Carolina), there aren't many choices for me to get my truck fixed. There is a European Auto Specialist that I'm going to check out next and see what they can do. If nothing, I'll just do it myself.
