i just got a 97 dicovery LR7 with 106 k on it, a front push bar with oversized off road lights, an old man emu 3" lift, 32" tires, it's in great shape besides a couple things, the transmission is acting funny, in the 0-30 mph range it is fine going from powering to idle, but when on the highway, 30-75 mph when you are realeasing off the gas, (not completely releasing) the transmition kind of hand up and makes a weird high pitch clanking, obviously something wrong, the effect on the handling is quite a pain in the ass becuase it kind of hangs up the car a little, and slows down in between going idle, and powering, i got a warranty with the car so if it's the tranny i can get it replaced i guess,

the second thing, im a fan of music, im sure most people are, so id like to utilize the 6 cd changer or at least the radio, but the display on the radio only says "code" i guess you need a code to turn it on, if someone could help me find it maybe it's written on the car somewhere, i don't have the manual so that's shot,
i would also like to put in a custom radio, maybe a touch screen sterio, but the guys at best buy don't do installations on land rovers, i think they're still sour about the whole taxation without representation, does anyone know of an adaptor somewhere so i can use an aftermarket stereo in my car?

the third question, since i have 32" tires the tire starts rubbing agianst the back/inside on the frame, would putting 1" spacers on the tire help the situation out a little?

i guess that is it for now, if there are some catalogues i could order for aftermarket parts or a book on the car and how to perform installation and **** like that, that would be great, thank you guys in advance

have you checked all the fuid levels, any maintainence history with the vehicle?

stereo code:
call your local dealer tell them you replaced your battery and need a code - they will need your vin and it must be the original stereo

tires rubbing:
I have read (though have not done it myself) that with tire over 30" you will have to cut some of the rear tire well out - if you search around you will find some info on that - I beleive 'east coast rover' ECR has a section on that - keyword 'discotech' - here ya go:
http://www.eastcoastrover.com/Discotech.html - - - granted they were doing a hell of a job (full fender flairs) but I think the need for a cut away is the same with the 32"s

there are alot more knowledgable people on this forum then I and I have to say out of all of the forums for Landy's this seems to be the best.

Something you have probably already done but make sure the differential lock is not on. Bad things can happen if drive at highway speeds with it in the locked position.

Rust around the windows is normal... If you can get it taken care of before you have to do major repairs.

Land Rover = all aluminum exterior/metal interior and metal roof (D1 model years)

Dissimilar metals = corrosion.
