Key Fob Destroyed - Car is not worth cost of key - Alternative way to start?

Not to hijack the thread after replacing some front end parts I kept getting the red error and she would drop to the stops. I ended up running the recalibration routine with the nanocom and all is well. I think I posted the solution on here when it was fixed.
