Key fob not working. Wiring in door sill?

I'm working on pulling out the plastic to get to a magical bunch of wires that are the most easily corroded wires on any car ever. All I have to go by is that it is a green and a green/white wire that goes into a connector and that I need to cut the connector and splice the wires back together, make it waterproof, and let magic happen. I am to take of the plastic trim in the door sill and then a harder plastic cover to reach this bundle of wires.

I could use some advice....

I have same problem. couple of months ago now I had flooded carpeting, thought it was the sunroof drain clogged. fixed that a couple of times and still flooded. turned out to be the drain ******* on the a/c condensate pan behind/below the radio were clogged and caused even worse flooding than the sunroof. Anyway got all that cleared and now its bone dry but haven't had remote control of door locks since.

Where did you get the info on the right wiring to check? was it on the driver LH or passenger RH side? Did it work?

The wire in question is on the US passenger side. There is a door sill in the front with the Land Rover logo stamped on it. To remove this, start on one side and pull straight up. The sill is attached by metal clips. Continue working your way to the other end of the sill.

Under the sill is another black plastic piece. I believe you need to slide this first (either towards front or rear of vehicle, I don't remember) and then pull up. I vaguely recall tapping the plastic piece with a screwdriver and hammer to get it to slide.

Once this piece is removed, you should now see a loom of wires held together by black cloth tape. Remove the tape and spread out the wires. You are looking for a green wire with a white stripe. If you trace this wire, you'll reach a point where there is a splice covered by a piece of tape. Remove the tape and you should see the problem. On my LR3, just tugging the wire caused the splice to disintegrate.

It was indeed the wiring

Thanks for the info guys. I kept all the plastic parts off the wiring troughs after I had the floods, hoping to save a little cash if I ended up needing the dealer. When I called them they estimated $400 ! WOW !

Based on your comments I went back and looked in the front passenger side (US) trough and there was a wire that had previously been spliced with a red wire which turned out to be green and white like you mentioned. I believe there was always a splice there because there is one g/w wire headed to the center pillar and two g/w wires headed to the front. The problem had been fixed by the dealer when it was still under warrantee, hence I believe, the red wire spliced in. Anyway, pulled it all apart, touched the two stripped wires and voila! the remotes work again.

My remote worked 1 time.

Receiver is getting power.
Remote battery is a 3v.
Repaired the splice.

My key fob is still not working.

Help...
