Key Safe options for the LR3 FOB?

I was thinking about this, and it basically going to be a flat piece of bar stock. The intent is to replace keys shanks in remotes if needed. The shank part of the key is basically a short flat piece of metal held in by a roll pin and may be difficult to use as a spare. Or, maybe with some ingenuity it helps solve the problem. I'm interested to see what you guys come up with.
