Certainly a few posts already about this, but doing this for newbie LR4 owners like myself. I noticed gas smell in garage after full tank fillup. Researched and read about either decayed seal on tank top filter unit or cracks in the unit itself.

Then discovered the recall service bulletin attached. Called LR and they checked my VIN. Said it was still open and to bring it in. They will replace filter unit and seal for no charge.

So well worth calling LR service dept wherever you live and have them run your VIN. BTW, the VIN in the picture is just a random one in the screen shot I grabbed off a Google search.

I'm starting to smell fuel after filling up and going off-roading, especially today because I smelt fuel inside the truck. Then I pop the tailgate and smelled fuel back there near the bumper. I didn't see it dripping so I lit the stove to cook steaks anyway and no problems lol. That recall is somewhat recent, not sure if mine has the work completed. Hopefully not because it sounds expensive. I bought it on 7/23 and it didn't have any pending recalls so I'm not hopeful.

0 Unrepaired recalls on my rig according to nhtsa. That could mean the Land Rover fix doesn't hold-up or there is some other problem. And the gas pump turning off far too early today sounds related according to other threads, not sure how though.

Call or visit LR dealer with VIN and they can check. Worth a shot.
YES - this is step 1. Call a dealer, they will tell you if the warranty work has been performed or not.

Videos I watched don't seem too bad, fiddly with wires and tubes connected to tank that must come off to drop. Good luck
I did this job and posted some detailed threads with photos. It's DIY'able if you can turn a wrench. Not fun though. Parts are cheap (few hundred bucks, including a new fuel pump) but it's hours of lying on your back, assuming you don't have access to a lift.

I called the dealer and work was done in 2022 for the gas tank leak recall and I bought it in 2023. I might complaint to the gov site because if Land Rover fixed it then I wouldn't have a problem. Its been 28,000 miles since the repair, seems early for a tank seal failure. I know the gas can be smelled outside from down under the rear area where the bumper is and inside the cab I could smell fumes. Maybe it isn't the seal I just don't have time right now to risk tearing into it since I'm starting a new job so hopefully if I keep the fuel low I can deal with it later.

Not sure it is another recall, but I think I remember info on this forum about a problem with the fill pipe from the cap down to the tank. Maybe your smell is related, especially since you indicated near back?

I will try to find the info

Don't speculate.
Figure out what is wrong first.
