Hey Guys,

Just picked up a 2001 DII SD with 151k miles. I recently noticed oil accumulating on the driveway under the transfer case. Doing some reading I've found this to be a somewhat common occurrence. I haven't tried to locate the filler plug yet but how hard/easy is it to keep topped off? And how often should I check? It's a very small amount each day, a few drops.

Should I get it fixed? What are my options for repair? I see some transfer cases on ebay for $250 but the job looks like a real knuckle buster. Are these leaky seals easy to fix or should it be replaced? Or should I not even bother given the miles and fact that I only use the car on rare occasions to move a trailer around.

Thanks.

Yes, the leak needs to be fixed and depending on the location of the leak, you have options.
Send me your number and I'll be glad to walk you thru what to look for, how to fix it and using 85/140 instead of what it came with.
