How often should the air filter be changed under normal driving conditions in New England?

I change mine every 15.000 miles, that is what a service schedule book recommends anyway, some time even more often, especially when i camp in Maine for a week or two and drive on dirt mountain roads, following some other cars. After that particular week, my filter is always full of dirt and leafs and it needs to be changed.

Maintenance schedule recommends changing air filter at 48, 60, & 96k.
