Installation requires drilling, so may be a challenge to someone ready to take them off. I've seen new sets online for about $70 fwiw.

$70 for all 4? I only need the fronts. Where have you seen them, John?

Ever consider using the defender 90 or 110 mudflaps that have the the old LR logo? i think i'd give the LR3 a really cool- retro look. if you compare the lr3 mudflaps to the rr sport, the lr3 flaps are angled on the outer edge, the rr spt is squared off, why is that?

I screwed mine in with the provided screws just so I could easily install and remove them before going off-road (I don't want to snap one off on a rock). Using this method, they have been plenty secure for me so far.

Just thought I would throw in my $0.02.

Yeah, they screw-in with provided hardware.

I broke one of my front ones off when I went through a deep pool of mud too fast...

Love to see what the D90/110 one look like though.

I just installed a set yesterday and after reading some of the posts I'm wondering if they'll end up in a mud puddle or on the side of the road now. The ones I got had metal backings to help reinforce. Has that always been the case or did LR update them?

Yeah, mine had those as well, didn't seem to matter. In fact, I would think you'd want there to be a level of flexability so that they would bend and not break. The D2 one were a better design IMO.
