I'm trying to do the rear rotors and pads on my 2006 LR3 V6 SE, about 105,000 miles. I got the left rotor off some how after whacking it a while, the right one seems like its going to be a challenge.
After finishing the left wheel I found and read the Bodsys Brake Bible and I still have some questions:
When you put it in EPB service mode does it give any indication on the info panel? It says push the brake pedal 3 times and then hold it. Is that push it 3 times and then a 4th to hold it or do you hold it in on the 3rd push and then press the EPB button? Do you leave the trans in Park or Neutral?
On the EPB release ratchet, on the right wheel where it's is at the top of the hub, which way is loose? In Bodsys it says away from the spring, which I thought I did, but now it seems tighter than ever. So you have to screw that ratchet in enough to let the rotor come off?
Any trick to doing the ratchet? It's like doing arthroscopic surgery with a pipe wrench. It's hard to tell whether the ratchet has moved or the screwdriver slipped. Could the ratchet be rusty and benefit from a dose of good bolt stuff (PBR?)
There's an emergency EPB release cable somewhere in the center console. Would pulling on that do the trick to release the EPB? There's procedure in the manual to reset it once it's been pulled.
Any advice would be most welcome!
