Longer test drive today & amber/red suspension code came back. Had the display in 4x4 mode. Didn't see any uneven tires.

Tested the battery after charging. 12.6v. Is that where it should be to eliminate it?

Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet for the GAP code reader.
Battery is a bit low for at-rest. Might want to take it to Napa, Advance, O'Reilly's, AutoZone or wherever for a load test, maybe alternator test as well.

Search air suspension troubleshooting and take your time. The problem might not be the compressor, or not the compressor alone. Compressors often burn-out due to leaking air bags. Air Suspension generally lasts about 100,000 miles depending on wear and climate. The front air suspension usually fails first.

Best of luck with the project!

Hi, welcome to this "discopathic" life. First of all, with a disco 3 there are some tools recomended to make your life easy.

1. Scanner (Hawk Eye, iCarsoft, IdTool, and many others). Choose one or two, or three, just feel comfortable with wich one you choose.
2. too much patience. This vehicles have the hobbie of give you some surprises. They are like litle childrens.
3. You have signed a contract for life. The more of us who start with Discovery, ends with discoverys.

About your question, Hitachi is the original brand of compressors used on Discovery 3 / LR3. Other thing you must chec, is all the hoses, because time and temp makes some issues.

To be sure about wich compressor buy, you could check on some spare parts pages, like Rimmer bross, and Atlantic British.

Hope this help you, best regards.
