After much consideration I purchased a set of Michelin LTX P265/80R18 M/S2 from Discount Tire today. This '05 LR3 will be used primarily on-road although it might find some dirt and sand and some point in it's life. The handling is much improved and the road noise from the prior Goodyear Wrangler AT's are non existent! Mission accomplished...happy wife.
