Does the LR4 nav have text to speech capabiity? I played with the test drive vehicle's nav a little bit and didn't find a way to turn on text to speech. Seems like in this day and age, all navs should have this.

Here's couple other things the sales guy told me about the nav -- It does not provide traffic information because Sirius does not support it. The nav is hard drive based, but it does not provide any of the hard drive space for ripping your own music to it. Can anyone verify if the sales guy is giving me accurate information?

loading dvd

So, how do you early-adopters like the NAV on the LR4? Haven't heard much discussion on it.

(1) Do you know how map updates are to be loaded since there isn't a DVD drive? It'd be nice if they just gave you a memory stick you could plug in here;

(2) What about memory points? The LR3 is limited to an annoying 100 or 200 points (I forget which). Once full, I now have to delete a couple any time I want to store a new location. I would hope with the new hard drive based system there is much more space available for memory points.

(3) What functionality do you have while driving? I assume it shuts off some options, unfortunately.

Any other feedback on this NAV vs. others you have used?

Hey - newb as an official forum member, I can answer #1 as I had the same question upon receiving mine for 07 lr3. If you put the dvd in your computer, just connect the computer to the usb drive (I agree with you). I don't know where you found your update or what it cost, but fyi I found mine on navteq website www.updateyourmap.com and it was about $200. Not sure if it's same as dealer or not as I bought used.

Ok -- newb here. I also had this question & was told that you load dvd to laptop and then connect via usb... Also - I don't know what dealer is charging for update, but navteq has it for $200 @ www.updateyourmap.com. I just ordered, so haven't received it yet to load. Anyone gone through the process yet?

Not true for Sirrius and traffic- my F-150 has Sirrius in it, withnthe option for Travel Link. Gives me weather forecast and radar, traffic, construction, events, gas prices, etc. Very handy. Interesting that is not avail for the LR.

That website only has updates for the LR3 and earlier, not for the LR4. Called my dealer and he states no update for LR4 by land rover yet
