The weights have always been all over the map. 2014+ may be heavier due to the running boards, the supercharger (LR used the V8 and just blanked two cylinders off) and the new transmission.

Find a cat scale or make a trip to the local dump. Those scales are meant for vehicles.

Mine was weighed on a cat scale, I think its like +/- 10 lbs.

This was before my ARB bumper and winch, but with my rear bumper and most of my skids.

Here is my latest. All fully loaded for a trip in the config pictured below.

Nice. Most I recall seeing was 8200 on a solo trip one summer. Crazy to think it would’ve been 8400 with a friend and more of their own gear.

The 3/4 has a real frame as do all capable vehicles so a load is no real problem. For Defenders, roof loading has been a historic norm - almost real tradition.

I do not think I would try that on the D5 - new traditions I suppose?

As to the new Defender, maybe it should be deferred a bit longer so it can grow a frame as all capable vehicles have. It is more than tyre size.

TATA motors stock has been getting crushed this year, totally crushed. So I wonder how the market will cause them to rethink things such as engine choices in different markets.

I wonder if any TATA bosses ever read any of these forums?

If they saw how good some of the LR3/4's still look, do they wonder a bit about what they are now offering and relate it to perhaps why their share prices have tanked - or do they just think it should be Electric?
