Maps for Nav System

My Discovery 4 came with Nav System but no maps for central america, so I can get coordenates and bearing but can't navigate routes. I have a map for central America which Works fine on my garmin gps. Does any one know how to load maps into the Nav System?

yes sir you will have to take it to the dealer and have them load new software into the harddrive

garmin maps is a seperate system. you have to take your lr4 to get new software installed

This is one of my biggest disappointments with Land Rover. It does not apply for Western European and US drivers; but for the international crowd, there are very limited maps available from the supplier of digital maps to Land Rover. Thus, in my case in Africa, I use a Garmin Nuvi 1370i along with map source (Garmin map software) to create my own maps. Because I own the software and device from Garmin, I have a lot of control over it...versus the on-board nav system which would require significant brainpower to manipulate.

Again-only applies for us folks in the international boonnies, but pretty frustrating when sold as an "off-road navigation system."

well you can set a trace trail when you are offroading to find your way back (on the navigation)

I feel the exact same way. I have a Garmin Nuvi on our car and a Garmin 60Cx on my bike. I also use Mapsource to upload maps, plan routes & tracks and to download my tracks onto Google Earth. I use open street maps (free) which are put together with input/contribution from local users. They have much more "off road" details and tracks, including important waypoints.

This has been one of my biggest frustrations among many regarding the nav.
I bought my LR4 new in 2010.
The map set loaded on it was dated 2008 and was still showing a gas station
that had been closed for the past 4 yrs!
I asked LR for updated maps, but none are available.

The same maps seem to be available for other makes, but not LR.
Maybe it takes extra time to dumb-convert them down to LR nav standards.
