My Car and My VIN Number Info Do Not Match

Hi,

Yesterday I bought a 1999 Range Rover 4.6 HSE.

My VIN number is SALLPAMC4XA428395.

When I decode this information over internet it says the car is 2.5 L Diesel model.

However I don't think my car is Diesel. Is there a way to understand this?

My Engine No is: 59D01276A

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Call the dealer. Where did you pull the vin number. Did you pull it off the door or off the dash. If you pulled it off the door the car could have been in an accident and the door was replaced with a used door.
