My truck farts on cold morning startups

Can anybody identify the sound? I have a '98 Disco LSE 4.0. On cold mornings at start up, the truck makes a high pitched "fart". After warm up, no problems, even if the truck sits. I suspect it's a manifold or head gasket, as I am starting to lose coolant at the back of the engine. Can anybody confirm this?

he who smelt it, dealt it.

Does that have ACE? I seem to remember some high pitched squealing coming from the ACE pump, not sure whether i would have called it a "fart" though.

a '98 wouldn't have ACE..... record the sound and post it... this always helps.
