real button sequence... left hard key, far right bottom soft key to turn off.
'hard' keys are the two 'real' buttons, 'soft' keys are ones on the screen.

Disregard that last post of mine! I don't know how I came up with that!

Hit the 'Home' button then the button on the lower right on the screen to turn off the turn-by-turn guidance

I have been trying to lower the volume from the Navigation when it cuts in. It is extremely loud and the offset only raises the volume relative to the volume setting. I wish there was a way to disable the nav volume so there was only the directions displayed on the screen with maybe an audible sound to alert you to turns. It is unacceptable the you cannot listen to music above say 20 on the volume scale while still using the Nav system.

simply turn down the volume with the radio controls when the navigation is speaking,,, same with voice recognition.
