New noise. Timing chain?

Fan clutch seems likely. Also make sure you don't have the "More cowbell" switch flipped on. (sad SNL reference)

Fan clutch, just replaced mine. Also did the water pump, thermostat, and front cross over...it was BAD! I'm at 125k miles.

"Shouldn't" is the operative word. There is no ironclad guarantee about the improved guides. When I brought this up with my indy mechanic he just laughed at the thought that any of us are 100% immune to timing chain issues. He has done quite a few TC jobs on MY13 and later models.

I told him he needed to work on his bedside manner! (we both laughed)

2013(and 2014-2016) models still need guides, just less often. #1 way to ensure you don't need them is to do frequent oil changes and not trust the ridiculous 15k interval.

My fan clutch just went. 98ish k miles for anecdotal reference on how long they last. No longer engages and you can stop it easily while the engine is running.
