Got my LR3 back after having the "recall" done. Officially listed on my service record as "Recall- Open Campaign B034 Suspension/Compressor" and "B036 Vehicle Enhancement Campaign". For the first time, I'm unable to trigger a suspension fault!!! Nice. Also seems to have a better throttle response and the suspension feels a little tighter. Overall pleased, though I did notice a small crack in the wood and a gouge mark on one of the speakers after they replaced one of the interior door panels.

dawg,

Overally, I'm disappointed with the wood trim workmanship. Mine has come loose, been re-glued, and come loose again. I may have them look at that again. I have to go in soon for the 22.5 K tune, and will mention both the B034 and B036 repairs to them as well as ***** about the wood trim.

Thanks for your insight, and of course....GO BEAVS !!

Hope I don't have to have any of these done yet. My LR3 is an 06 and I am guessing one of the last 06's. But who knows.

On a side note, I have been to Corvallis a couple of times. Really nice place. If I didn't like the mountains so much I might have to migrate that way more offten.

Houm- Tell me about it. I complained about the loose trim hoping they would upgrade (as some other dealers have) but instead they just applied more adhesive. I think the newer kits sit flush whereas the one we have comes up about 1/4" short for instance on the air vents. A friend of mine just got a RR Sport and while the wood is also a laminate (at least on the dash), it's a MUCH higher quality. Let me know if you get anywhere with them. Go Seahawks! ;)

Roggen- You should be alright on your '06 but check the VIN range to be sure. btw did you get an SE or HSE? Adaptive headlights? Mine's an early build '05 so I missed out on those and the cooler box. ANd, of course they made the 3rd row standard on the '06 HSE and I had to add it on the '05.

I got an SE. No lighting package and no cooler box. Wanted both but the deal I got I couldn't pass up. I will just have to make due for the next couple of years and then upgrade!

Still a stellar vehicle (SE)! Drove an SE on loan while mine was in the shop. I thought mine was fast, but the SE seemed even faster out of the gate, perhaps because it's lighter w/o all the "extras"...

Alright, Dawg...I'll let you know. The replaced the wood trim once; new adhesive type and new wood, but it looked the same as the prior. It held up a little bit better but now has come loose again. The problem areas are the center piece - particularly on the passenger side of the center console - and the piece that goes around the passenger-side vent. I will keep hammering on them. If nothing else, it's more shop-time so I can have a built-in lifetime warranty.

roggen - I agree that Corvallis is great. I will probably go into semi-retirement there in about 10 years.

just picked up my LR3 from the vehicle enhancement service. the car seems to ride a bit higher/stiffer and the throttle seems smoother.

Extensive Recall

My compressor had failed in June and a dealer in Massachusetts (the state through which I was travelling back from vacation) replaced the compressor and reset the relevant ECU(s).

Now, I have handed over my car to my usual NJ dealership for the current recall(s). And, they said that the recall requires them to order a new compressor and replace it again (I told them the compressor was only a few weeks old)! Has anyone else had this happen? Was there really yet another re-design? Not that I particularly care, except it is going to take 1 1/2 weeks and everything was working so well. . . .

Also, I had (on my own) loctited and tightened the right rear hydraulic arm bolt for the tailgate (it was several turns loose and the dealer gave me 3-4 weeks before they could fix it; I was afraid of damage from repeated loose use). The dealership got very annoyed about this; saying that that was supposed to be part of this recall and they were going to do some welding. I have convinced them to leave the bolt alone (wouldn't want them breaking off the captive bolt now that I have used the loctite). I hope I didn't do something stupid in this regard.

My understanding is that the recall specifies that they will update the suspension software and that a new compressor is put in only if necessary i.e. not the latest model. I would think that yours, being done a few weeks ago, should be fine. However, it's possible that it might be a "newer" design than the one they replaced but still may have been sitting in their parts dept. for awhile and thus obsolete? Be thankful that you have a dealer that's trying to talk you into letting them fix/update your LR3. I've had experiences where I've obviously been lied to by service advisors who didn't know I was well informed. It can be both amusing and frustrating.

Why is it going to take 1 1/2 weeks??? Waiting for a part?
