Roverdawg: "Overall pleased, though I did notice a small crack in the wood and a gouge mark on one of the speakers after they replaced one of the interior door panels."

Just curiuos, but did they replace the interior door panel to fix the speaker crackles that are so prevalent, or was this something else. I've had mine in twice for speaker problems, and neither time was it fixed.

I complained about the speaker rattle on the front passenger too. First time they couldn't replicate. Brought the issue up again the 2nd time and they replaced it. They said it had a tear on the speaker cone.

They replaced the door panel in an attempt to fix the rattle on the passenger side. Need to bring it back in as the rattle is still there. They also need to address a crackle coming from the driver's side. Let us know how you fare.

My passenger-side speaker is getting worse. I thought they may have found the problem, but a I guess not.

My understanding is that the recall specifies that they will update the suspension software and that a new compressor is put in only if necessary i.e. not the latest model. I would think that yours, being done a few weeks ago, should be fine. However, it's possible that it might be a "newer" design than the one they replaced but still may have been sitting in their parts dept. for awhile and thus obsolete? Be thankful that you have a dealer that's trying to talk you into letting them fix/update your LR3. I've had experiences where I've obviously been lied to by service advisors who didn't know I was well informed. It can be both amusing and frustrating.

Why is it going to take 1 1/2 weeks??? Waiting for a part?

You may be right. The compressor I got before might have just been an old one sitting around. I didn't really make an appointment for that replacement; it was kind of an emergency.

The 1 1/2 weeks is for getting some replacement parts. The recall came at the same time that I got a loud scraping noise under the hood. And a small (but annoying) roof leak. And a broken cigarette lighter cover. And a noisy A/C compressor. And a loose bolt. Better all at once, right?

As long as they fix things, I'm ok. The only truly problematic thing is that the dealer told my wife [when she asked if the LR3s they had sold were having problems like ours]: "We're only having problems with LR3 owners, not the LR3s." Why do dealers do this? They just don't like brand loyalty? You would figure that dealers working for the dead last car manufacturer in initial quality would smile when they fix all the broken parts. My wife was really hurt; and I can tell you this is our last Land Rover if she has any say about it.

trm2,

I once had the joyous experience of sitting in my LR dealer's waiting room and overhearing two employees bashing Land rover owners. Went on and on and did impersonations of "snooty" owners who pay cash for their vehicles, how they hardly got paid anything for selling Land Rovers that were "just going to be towed in anyways" and how only one guy at the dealership was allowed to sell the Bentleys, and that most customers were idiots with no concept of how to make a deal. I was shocked/******....but not surprised. BUT I love the LR3 so grin and bear it I guess.

Here's the bottom line:

The behavior you guys are describing has nothing to do with Land Rover, the LR3 or any of that...it has to do with people and their undying ability to be jackasses. It happens everywhere...sorry you encountered it.

Got mine back

I went in for the "enhancement" recall on Saturday so had plans to just wait, since the letter I got said it was a 45 minute job - then found out about the suspension recall (and one more, can't remember the reason for that one).. anyway, as others have said, the suspension is definitely much tighter than before. Fortunately, I never had the error messages popping up on my Driver's Info Screen..
Haven't really noticed a difference in throttle, but will be looking as I get more driving on it this week.

The 'wait' ended up being 3.5 hours, but I took my laptop and took advantage of their free WiFi and got some work done!
