Hi, I've been looking for a new car for a little while now and I'm thinking about getting a Land Rover Disco. The ones ive looked at have at least 130k miles on them. How long do most Disco's tend to last. Is that gonna be too near the end of it's life? As for service on them, I heard its impossible to get parts for an LR before 1996. Is that true? I'm also planning on lifting it as soon as I get it. I won't have much money to lift it at the start, but I need to clear my 33" baja claws. Would 2 inch spacers and OME shocks be enough to do this? Thanks.

As to parts for pre 96-no problem.Paddock spares in the UK specialise in LR parts. They ship to the US I believe.

Atlantic British here in the states also carries a wide varity of parts for all years of disco's and RR's.

33" tires will require a lot of fender cutting in order to fit them with out rubbing.

Try www.dap-inc.com for pre-'96 parts, its a GREAT site and everything is very reasonably priced...much better than any price you'll find at a dealer.

Thanks for the replies. How much lift should i go for, to fit 33's without rubbing and not much fender cutting?

Fender cutting will be a requirement regardless of the amount of lift. about 2 or so inches front a rear....cutting that is.

I have a 2 inch lift and cutting in the rear about 1 inch or so off the back, and an aftermarket front bumper and I will be able to put 31" tires without rubbing, but any bigger than that will be major cutting and the lift will probably be 3 inches.
