In my 07 HSE, I started getting a water leak during the recent rain. The sun roof would not open and I could see the water was mostly coming down the B pillar.
In to the shop with it.
They identified the issue to be through the glass roof.... They said the previous owner must have had the roof changed out at some point and whoever did the work did not use enough sealent and water was coming through the front corners.
They tried removing the old glass to reuse it, but they broke it. so $1300 later, new glass roof.
The sunroof motor is probably water damaged, I cycled it a few times and it seems to be ok... but with it being winter I loath to test it too much..
Incidently, it turns out the drainage tubes were the newer type and had no clogs...
This car is a little expensive. Had it for 4 months and so far:
Known issue at purchase:
Tires - $1000
Control arm bushings - $800
Alertantor - $1200
Brake light switch - $25
Compressor (not done yet)
Unexpected issues
Electrical short behind battery $400
Glass roof- $1300
When I bought the vehicle for $220 the KBB was $2700
Not feeling like the great deal it was at the time
