Well after replacing every imaginable seal that is in my 2001 Disco II to the tune of $1400, I have a leaking head gasket. Being a woman, I am not sure of how much this should cost but my mechanic is telling me it's gonna be $2500 and to get rid of the truck. Some of my questions are:

1. does this price sound right?
2. should I just keep it the way it is, will the leak get alot worse and how quickly?
3. Help, what do I do? One of the dealerships I went to already said they don't even want it and won't even take it on a trade, another offered me $3500 for it.

I would find a non-dealer land rover mechanic, and get a second opinion.

It is amazing that we will spend $$$$$ for a second opinion from a Doctor, but will not consider it for our vehicle when someone gives us a crazy quote.

On the 01 D2, it is the same engine as the D1, just different intake and engine management.

It should be more like $800-$1200 at a local shop. If you own the Vehicle out right then even a $2500 repair is better than
$10.000-$20.000 Commitment for a new or newer vehicle.
