Hi, new to forum... I am helping a friend with a 1997 Discovery. I was looking to by an error code reader. Any suggestions? I was looking at ultra-gauge & OBDCOM... thanks for quick response (i want to order something tonight)... i was also looking at Bluetooth ELM 327 Diagnostics USB Cable which i found on amazon... it got some pretty good reviews and is pretty cheap... here is a video of an android app Torque to see results on android device... looks pretty cool... any thoughts?

Either one will work, but for me I will not buy another that is designed for a product that I know I will not have 2 years down the road. I bought an OBDII scanner for my pocket pc years ago, and since it was specific to the registry of the item, when time came to move to a newer better platform I was stuck with software I couldn't use. Also since I decided to just try and keep it running when I needed to clean up and reflash the pocket pc I ended up having issues getting support for an old software. Just me, but I would rather have a hardware scanner.

And yes I know these are cool, but the reality is OBDII and a Land Rover at least you just really need codes and some sensors.
