Hi All,

Love the board and thank you for all the info. Family size is about to double due to buns in the oven and our beloved Q5 is just not going to cut it and the Q7 just isn't enough of a size/$ proposition in my view. Wife and I love the LR4, both test drove it and are pretty happy. The mileage is pretty bad, but compared to our average 16 on the Q5, it really isn't that much worse.

Wife read a lot of stuff online regarding LR reliability, etc. It is my understanding that things are pretty well, but wanted to double check if you guys things its a car that needs a lot of attention or is it more of a change the oil, tires and brakes and needed and she keeps on purring?

Thanks.

LR4 by in large seems to be far more reliable than any previous product. I've had my '12 for 6 months and other than replacing a faulty fuse for the heated windshield, I've not had a single issue from delivery.

30,000 miles, most reliable car I've owned yet. Had plenty of German cars that were always in the shop for one thing or another. Land Rovers have come a very long way. They are extremely reliable and they will never leave you stranded. Yes, like any complex vehicle things will need replacing time to time, some times odd stuff, but again, nothing that'll leave you on the side of the road waiting for a tow. So far I've had only one issue, the part that puts the car into low-gear, forgot the name of it, stopped working and it was obviously covered under warranty. Although it stopped working, I was still okay to drive, just wasn't able to go into low-gear. Had brake pads replaced once and two services that included the oil changes etc., one was free, one was $650. The brake pad job was around $600 or so. I LOVE my LR4 and about to trade in mine for a 2013. It also fits our family very well, I go camping with my Son, go on long road trips, to Canada in the summer, load it up with just about anything, there is massive room, and it just works so well. Amazing truck.

Q5 is a cute car!!!! I love it very much...best compact suv in town I think.

Lr4 is a whole new level....forget about the extra fuel cost, worth it!
Power, reliability, luxurious, pick up, van, and you can also go without road....

And it is also rear-ended proof...lol

BTW, with really really careful driving, I can get 20 mpg average....

With a bit heavy foot, I'm averaging 18 mpg now.

51k miles on our 2010 and outside of our initial surround camera system issue (now fixed) all we've had to do has been routine maintenance.

We went from a 2007 Q7 to 2008 LR3 and never looked back. We moved to a town with a drive-on beach and needed better offroad ability than the Q7. LR3 has a better AWD system than quattro. (And I'm a big fan of Audi, now on my second allroad) The LR3 is bigger than the Q7 on the inside, with the best third row space of any mid-size SUV. Reliability has been the biggest surprise. Not a single repair over 60K miles. Looking forward to ordering a 2013 LR4 to replace our LR3 later this year.
