I am thinking of installing a 2500 watt power inverter in my cargo area on the passenger side. Maybe a custom job with the outlets being flush with the panels. Has anybody done or thought about this? Think it would be best I added the second battery? Maybe upgrade alternator? I think it would be a great mod and would prove to be hella convenient. Let me know what ya'll think. Cheers! - Michael

I just use a simple three plug inverter in the rear cargo area, plugged into the existing jack on thte driver's side. There are plenty of posts on second battery installs, with lots of good info already, so check there first on that. Custom install flush with the panels would sure be nice, but not quite necessary for me (yet). Good luck!

I had this same plan, until. . . I needed a quick solution so I got a 400/800 watt inverter that fit nicely in the cargo boxes with lids in the third row. I then ran the extension cord out and up into the front passeger area under the carpet, etc. I didn't expet it to, but it works so well and is unseen, that the custom inverter project is not really on the agenda any longer.

I do have a second Optima battery as well. I have not really done any measurements on how long I can run on the orginal nor the combo, but simply adding the amp hours up of the gear you run, plus a plug for lost effciency, you should be able to get a safe operating time for your battery. However, the LR3 takes some power when sitting off, let alone having to run aux gear, so I would be careful here.
