Hello,

My range rover p38 1997 needs a tune-up as my mechanic said.

as the cost is around 700$ (tune-up and fuel injection service), I wanted to know if I could do that myself, and what I had to clean or maybe replace.

Thanks a lot for your help.

For that much if you do it your self you could also put new brakes on it.

How many miles? I would start with the basics if you looking at a tune up.

Plugs (cheap Champions)
Fuel filter
Wires (good ones - Magnacore or similar quality)
Air Filter
Clean the intake
Oil/oil filter
Also depending on how it is running, clean the TPS/IAC
Injectors you can either take to a repair shop just for them, but unless they are real nasty or you have not run any injector cleaner through it ever... then you can just run some injector cleaner.

Pat,
If you are a little mechanical and can follow my directions, I can walk you thru it for $200 which would be plugs, wires air filter induction cleaning and a good fuel additive, B&G 44K.
Send me your number if you want to talk.

Hi everybody,

Thanks for all your answers.

What happened, is that I have to change my cat back exhaust system, as it happens to have big holes. it will cost 899$ parts and labor.

So they told me that I'll need a 700$ tune up after the exhaust system is installed.

I found that 700$ was expensive for a tune-up.

I'm going to follow your advice. And mike, I'm going to give you my phone number on a private message.

Thanks,

Pat

Hi guys,

I have found a repair shop that does custom mufflers. It will cost me 250$ parts and labor.

Very happy.

Thanks,

Pat

Hi,

I would like to clean the TPS/IAC as Joey mentioned, as I have not a good idle (seems like the engine is going to stall).

Is there any picture and "how-to do" to help me complete the operation ?

Should I have to disconnect the negative of the battery to do the cleaning ?

By the way I have put a can of B&G 44k in my fuel tank.

Thanks a lot,

Pat

Hey, check out post above this one. Is this new 2 post "member" actually spam? The post in other tire thread make no sense whatsoever. I think it's a 'bot'

Ok so i guess it's actually more of a language thing ;) No offense meant
