Rear gate retaining cable assembly

Just noticed some looseness in the pin that the lower rear gate cable goes over (see photo). This is on the drivers side. The play in that pin is very minor but noticeable. It's not enough for the pin to expose itself outside of that opening but I don't want it to get worse and cause an issue with my gate. The pin on the passenger side is rock solid.

Anyone dealt with this before? Not looking forward to removing that entire side panel to get to the part in question.
