94 Disco with 176K
At idle or low speeds runs good. At highway speeds starts to overheat as well. I went to my local Rover mechanic and he said that it would be about a $600 job to replace 2 hoses that are leaking. He said that most of the $600 is in labor costs. The obvious leaking hose runs from the top front driver side of the engine to the top right side of the radiator. It is leaking on the engine side of the hose. How easy it that hose to replace? Are there any hidden surprises waiting for me like when I tried to replace my distrubuter rotor arm?

Top hose is very easy, as a matter of fact the average person can change all the hoses on a 94 Disco without too much trouble. $600 to change hoses... good lord.... if you were in the Cincinnati area, I would do the work for a case of beer.. :) I am cheap.

The odds are at 176k miles though you have other issues other than just hoses... I would bet and say either the water pump is starting to go, or the radiator is getting clogged. But still not $600 worth of work, unless you need to replace the radiator.

Wow how much for an oil change $468.00? I 'd say that 's a hose job. Are you sure he's not talkin all hoses, water pump, flush and replenish antifreeze, oil change and a wax job?
