hi
new guy here

i have a hse lr3
i got the rosen dvd installed recently and so far im not happy
it was installed by a local stero place that does work for my dealer
my hse was the first one to roll off the truck and the dvd was not even
a option yet so it could not be installed from the factory.

anyway the sound is terrible
its very quiet the volume has to be on about 20 before u can hear it and then there is engine noise.

if anyone has had this installed i would like to know how its doing

thanks matt

Take it back to the dealer and make the shop install it right!!! You should not be having problems like that. We have installed several systems for clients in their LR3s and none have complained of that. We have used the Rosen system as well as Clarion. I think the Clarion is a little better. It has a slightly larger screen and the unit is significantly smaller.

Land Rover has said that there are some units that were shipped that were faulty. Either way, you should not have problems like you describe. Engine noise means that it was not installed properly.

How much for the Clarion have any pictures?

I noticed that the factory install DVD system, is intergrated into the rear AC system(my Lr3 has rear AC), is that the only way to go? didn't look like there was much room infront of the rear ac unit(btwn the sunroof and rear ac). I just haven't had a chance to go to the stereo places for them to see what can be done.

The Clarion model that we have used with great success is OHMD74. I don't know what the street price might be for this unit, but we charge $1600. The factory unit is installed with a large cover panel that includes a new mount for the rear AC controls. It is a rather large and bulky mount. Land Rover is only just now making the kits available to the dealers. There have been about 3 different problems they've been having. The Clarion unit we install is further forward from the AC controls and actually mounts in the flat part of the headliner before it steps up towards the back. It is actually a good place to mount it, as the driver can simply reach up insert the DVD or tilt the screen forward to access a certain spot on the DVD. Handy if the kids are too young to master a DVD yet.

Remember, any DVD system added to the car is only as good as the installer that put it in.

I had a necvox DVD player installed (by rosen). Here is a photo: http://www.landroverworld.org/photo/showphoto.php/photo/92/sort/1/cat/500/page/1

The price was a little over $2,000, but the picture and audio are fantastic. It also came with the wireless headphones, which my little boy loves. The installer did a very professional job, both on the actual install as well as matching the headliner perfectly. I have had DVDs playing for hours with no problems while we explore the backcountry of Utah. It has been one of the best modifications I have on my LR.

Rosen DVD problems....

Hey wrighthselr3,

Did you get the DVD player problem resolved (need to turn up volume high to get sound, and there is engine noise feedback thru speakers) by your dealer? I just took home my LRE HSE with dealer installed DVD last week and have the same problems.

I spoke to someone who purchased a SE with dealer installed DVD and after four weeks of bringing it back and forth to the dealer he decided to take it to a high end car audio shop and they re-wired and added a noise filter, which he says fixed the problem.

SteveA, I recently purchased a 2006 LR3 HSE that has a Clarion OHMD74 DVD player in it and I can't seem to figure out how to get audio through the car speakers or through the headphones. I do not have the remote, but, have tried the FM On/Off setting on the dvd player, have tried tuning in an FM frequency, have tried AUX, etc. and can't seem to figure it out. Also, there is a switch in the glove box that I assume is related some how. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is driving me nuts!

Dude, this is a 3 year old thread and SteveA isn't even a member anymore...

I suggest you start a new thread or do some more searching, just check the dates of the threads...
