Any particular reason for using CommandShift and not leaving the transmission in auto? Steep dune climbs, maybe? Otherwise, the Sand program is pretty smart in full auto and keeps your revs high and brisk on its own, without over-revving. You should probably turn DSC off as well.

I drive in soft beach sand everyday, no joke... everyday. About 2 miles of driving from hard packed into deep soft sand (depending on the weather).

Airing down really works but often doesn't need to be done since it's a pain in the ass.

Turning off the DSC is rule 1.
Raising suspension is rule 2.
Maintaining momentum is rule 3.
And..... Knowing basic techniques "how to drive offroad" is rule 4.

Other tips:
Bring a shovel.
Sand ladders (if you plan on getting really stuck).
A camera (so if you get stuck, you can share it and can have a good laugh).

i always leave it in high. the only time you really would need to switch is in the case of really deep and messy sand situations or to get out of being stuck...

i'd recommend leaving it hi until low is really necessary.

That's precisely what works for me, except that I shift up to keep revs between 2 & 4 thousand.
