The SES light came on yesterday. Advanced Auto read the codes and the following came up. PO734 -Gear 4 Ratio Incorrect an PO174 System Too Lean Bank 2 and PO171 System Too Lean Bank 1. In searching the forum it seems I should check the gas cap and the MAF sensor. Any other ideas? I need help in locating the MAF. I would also like the steps in cleaning it. New to LR ownership and will be ordering a service CD as it seems it will be necessary and helpful. Does anyone have a good source for the CD manual? Thanks for your replies.

MAF is located between the air box and the intake. Clean it by removing it... and spraying the inside very thoroughly with non-residue contact cleaner. Let dry and reinstall.

Link?

Joey,

Thanks for the quick reply and the link. I can't get the link to open but assume it is a diagram or picture of the MAF. Is the MAF the portion of tube with the connection bolted on it and with the plastic grid on the air filter side? If so do I need to disconnect the bolted on piece or just remove the whole tube and spray the cleaner into it from the grid side? Hope this question is somewhat clear.

remove and spray into the screened side... hmmm you can't open the link... let me look into that.

http://www.rover-renovations.com/ Then select "OTHER" from the left side menu.... what you are looking for costs $0.00 at the bottom.

Still on!

I cleaned the MAF as described. The light is still on. Does it have to be reset or does the truck have to be driven or is there something else I might do?

Thanks.

Best is to have it reset, but driving it will reset it if that was the issue.

Driving will take some many cycles of the ECU (can't remember how long that is, but it isn't just stop/starts it is time running)

Still on!

Driving the truck has not reset the SES light. What needs to be done to reset the computer? Thanks.

either get an OBDII scanner and reset it yourself, or you may try autozone or simalar and see if they will reset it for you. Some will, some will not. I would buy a scanner before I took to the dealer though.... Dealer reset = $50 - $75, Scanner $50 - $250 depending on the model.
