TPMS help

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum but have read as an outsider for a while. Great advice - great community.

I'm working on setting up a full size spare for my '07 LR3. The dealer quoted over a grand for new wheel, tire and TPMS. Alternatively, $550 for a used wheel.

I've found a wheel for a lot less on ebay and will purchase there. I've also found a TPMS online at rockauto.com for only $4.99. Does that sound right?

Does anyone know how to install the TPMS? Is it simply installation of the valve stem or is it more complicated?

Thanks!

It is basically just a valve stem - as in all one unit. Not sure what you need to do to calibrate things afterward. Keep an eye on craigslist & ebay for deals on wheels & TPMS sensors for a MUCH better price. The last set of 4 18" SE wheels I bought were only $125, that was from craigslist, no sensors though.

TPMS install is straight forward. They just need to unmount the tire and replace the valve stem with the TPMS sensor. The LR3 automatically detects the sensor after about 10 miles. I just had to install some on my LR3. I purchased the sensors for around $50/each from British Parts of Utah and I took my truck to the local tire shop. They charged me $20 to install and balance the tire. I don't have a sensor on my spare so I don't know if the system will automatically detect it or if something else needs to be done.
