It seems my starter is not fully engaging or I have a timing problem. This only occurs when the motor is still warm, never happens from a cold start. When I turn the key, the engine turns over a few times, the starter kicks out, and then there is a slight grinding sound. Any advice?

Have your starter tested, sounds like it may be going bad.

Could also be your battery starting to go..

Thanks Joey. I think it's the starter, will get it tested. Just in case, where's the best place to get a good replacement?

Any reputable, and real, automotive electrical shop can rebuild it, if you want to keep an original starter. I put a gear reduction starter from British Starters on my Disco.

I agree with Tom... rebuild or order from just about any British parts place.
