sun shade broken

I have a 2001 disco, the sun shade for the sun roof over the driver seat has a broken clip thingy? Does anyone know if that can be replaced or if I have to get a total new shade? If I have to get a new one how is it installed? Will I have to pull down the head liner?

I just joined this group to find out the exact same thing! No the dealership does not sell just the clip and the whole sun shade is $330 Might want to try a junk yard....although the guys at the dealership said this was one of their least favorite jobs to do because it takes twice the book time. I am going to try a machine shop...the clip does separate in the middle and could be easily replicated ....or if you are really handy with a pocket knife just carve one out of wood (J/K)

You are pretty much out of luck. You can try to buy a new shade, but I thought that you have to remove the headliner and/or sun roof assembly---both of which are not worth the time or effor the little shade. Does the sun really bother you that much? That sounds mean but its not supposed to be, three of the four on my 97 Disco are broken, but honestly, it does not even bother me got used to it quick. Could always pin an old black t-shirt up there ahhah, good luck finding an answer and if you figure out a way to make/get from a junk yard/etc. let us know so maybe we can get used to having a sun shade again too!
