OK so after getting the nav unit installed last week I do not have audio playback unless I attach a rca to 3.5mm cable to the aux input. So I was wondeing if anyone has tapped in to the back of the aux input from behind and ran anything. I would love to be able to run an rca to 3.5mm cable and hide it instead of having to plug it in everytime I want to watch a video.

If you pull that little unit forward , it pops right out. You might be able to hot wire it inside the console. Try a search under "AUX". the big problem though, is that inputs through the AUX port are like 4-6 volume #'s lower than stereo volume.

aux. plug issue

I agree that tapping into the aux. plug from behind and running a wire through the center console would be much cleaner solution.
FYI - I went to Wal-Mart and found a $10 auxillary ipod wire set that includes a nice black 3 foot wire and a 90 degree elbow (I think its Porsche brand - don't know if any relation to the car brand). This allowed me to plug into the aux. input using the elbow and this way the plug doesn't protrude enough to keep the little door from closing nearly flat.

Yeah, I wish the AUX input wasn't so quiet on the volume. I usually have to crank it up to full volume in order to get reasonable sound from my MP3 player (full volume on the LR3 radio volume knob).
