New poster here, you can get up to speed about me in this thread at the welcome forum.

As I'm searching for new tires, I'm also thinking about alignment - which we all know has to be dialed in just right. After reading about how this is to be done (I almost didn't believe the service manager when he said they had provisions about amount of fuel in the tank and loading the vehicle to make it weigh a certain amount in some circumstances, but then I saw the bulletin) I realize that this is fairly complex. Since it is supposed to be locked out (which presumably only a LR computer can do) am I out of luck getting an alignment locally? I live about 2.5 hours (one way) from the dealer and was hoping to avoid the commute (I could stomach the alignment cost).

I just put new tires on my 06 and also had an alignment at the dealer. My cost was 190.00 and well worth it. We just took it on a trip and drives great. Better than when it was new.

My dealer has it done at Belle Tire. You might call your dealership and ask them if they do it themselves or not and if not, where. If they are cool, they'll tell ya. It's about 1/2 what the dealer charges.

Thanks for the replies, looks like I'll just have to make the trip to the big city. I was able to find another place that does alignments, but it's still a 2+ hour drive.

The issue isn't the cost of the alignment - it's the cost of my wife and kids eating and shopping
