I have a question about the transfer case on my 2003 Disco SE7....My HDC and 'M' transmission mode functions will not engage/work at all and I am in 'Low Gear' on the transfer case. (No, I have no ABS warning lights) My question is , how does the truck know when the 'Low Gear' is engaged? Perhaps the toys that only function when 'Low Gear' is engaged are not working because the truck doesn't know that the 'Low Gear' engaged.....I'm not sure that it is an ABS issue....Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I've had a similar type problem on my 2004 Td5 just the other way around (nonstop in low range according to the ECU)

There is a switch on the transfer box that sends a closed / open signal to the gearbox ECU and then to the main ECU that the vehicle is either in low or in high range. If this switch is buggered or the wiring then it will confuse the ECU.

Eventually ended up that the vehicle VIN number wasn't programmed onto the gearbox ECU so it didn't communicate well with the main ECU. Had the VIN number programmed and so the problem was solved.
